So as to continue its activities and provide long term services to Mediterranean marine protected areas, the MedPAN network is preparing to become an association under French law, with an international governance.
The preparation work for this has been carried out with the support and in close coordination with RAC/SPA.
Organisations which can become members of the association are the organisations in charge of the management of Mediterranean marine protected areas.
Other organisations interested in the establishment and the managements of marine protected areas may become partners of the association.
The association will be governed by an international General Assembly and an international Board of Directors.
The association will establish a Scientific Committee and an Advisory Committee.
The draft charter and internal rules of the association is available in French and English version in attachment.
The association's charter was prepared by an international working group, representative of the north, south, east and west of the Mediterranean, supported by a lawyer and composed of (by alphabetic order):
Mr Ameer ABDULLA IUCN (Spain) Mr Jose AMENGUAL Cabrera National Park (Spain) Mr Ahmet BIRSEL WWF Turkey (Turkey) Mme Saba GUELLOUZ Agence pour la Protection et l’Aménagement du Littoral (Tunisia) Mr Abderrahmen GANNOUN RAC SPA (Tunisia) Mme Nuria MUNOZ Medes Marine Reserve (Spain) Mr Jean-Pierre NICOL Parc National de Port-Cros (France) Mme Catherine PIANTE WWF-France Mr Laurent SOURBES Parc National de Zakynthos (Greece) Mme Milena TEMPESTA Miramare Marine Reserve (IItaly)
